Rev. Maria E. Muse

Rev. Maria E. Muse is the daughter of Rev. Dr. Jude Poelinitz and Josephine Poelinitz. She is a native of Chicago, Illinois.

In 1996 Rev. Muse moved to Indianapolis and accepted her calling into Ministry in 2009 under the leadership of Rev. Dr. O’Neal Shyne, Jr.  She was ordained a Traveling Deacon in 2012 under Bishop Sylvester Williams, Sr. and ordained a Traveling Elder in 2014 under Bishop Marvin Thomas.  She relocated to the Eighth Episcopal District in May of 2014.  Her first assignment from Bishop Reddick was as an Associate Minister at Cedar Crest Cathedral CME Church in Dallas, TX where Rev. Dr. Van Carl Williams is the Pastor from 2014-2018.  In August of 2018, Rev. Maria E. Muse accepted her first Pastoral Appointment as the Pastor of New Bethel CME Church in Stephenville, TX.

She has held many positions across the connection.  She was the Senior Director of the Connectional Young Adult Mass Choir from 2008-2014, the 2nd District Representative of the CIT (Computer Information Technology),  one of the Graphic artists and Videographer for CME TV,  2nd District Administrative Assistant for the Cincinnati/Dayton/Indianapolis Leadership Training School for Dean Rev. Richard McDuffie, under the leadership of Bishop Sylvester Williams, Sr. and worked on the Social Media and Technology Team.

Pastor Muse has a Computer Applications degree as well as Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Business Management from Indiana Wesleyan University.  She is the wife of Darryl C. Muse, the proud mother of Ashley Johnson who graduated Magna Cum Laude from Lane College and her son Marsalis Upshaw who is a Sophomore at Miles College in Birmingham, AL.
